We’re looking for a Medical Supervisor to plan and coordinate Medicine projects of Projects Abroad Peru. The nature of the position entails frequent, timely and effective communication with health professionals, health establishments, volunteers and overseas offices. The main objective of this position is to manage the assigned project area thereby ensuring that volunteers are matched appropriately with placement, activities for volunteers are clearly worked out, and volunteers understand their roles and responsibilities. The Medical Supervisor also works closely with medical establishments to ensure a legal framework for the volunteers’ activities.
Duties and responsibilities of the role:
Frequent contact with directors and managers in health sectors to explain or renew obligations and responsibilities.
Supervision of volunteers at their placements and some administrative paperwork.
Weekly meetings and monthly workshops with volunteers.
Biweekly meetings with our partner organizations making sure contracts are renewed depending on the rapid change of health officials and regional health authorities.
Outreach activities with partner organizations.
Administrative and legal paperwork before volunteers’ arrival.
Coordination with the staff in the different areas in the placements to make sure volunteers are well received and that there is a good dynamic between them, to prevent problemas arising from culture barrier.
Allocation of volunteers to the placements depending on profiles.
Introduction at the placement, explaining transport, activities, rotations between areas, time schedule, introduction to staff and heads of areas.
Monitoring of the volunteers.
Meetings with volunteers to make sure communication is optimal and all volunteers are in touch with each other, understand the context, etc.
Workshops according to the study levels and interests of volunteers.
Medical studies, or related areas.
Proficiency in the use of MS Office and the Internet.
Two year experience in project development - in the medical field if possible.
Currently be living in Cusco (or nearby areas).
Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish (both spoken and written).
Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Organizational skills, problem solving and decision making.
Experience working with culturally diverse population is ideal but not mandatory.
Ability to work under pressure, meet short deadlines and multi-task.
Team building skills.
You will be offered a permanent contract, subject to passing a three-month probationary period. An offer of employment depends on a personal interview and satisfactory references.
