Trip Overview

What you need to know

Overview

This is your chance to gain meaningful clinical exposure on an immersive trip. Travel to the world-famous city of Athens and shadow doctors to elevate your medical school application.

This program is for anyone who wants to combine guaranteed physician shadowing hours and community service. Travel to the birthplace of the Hippocratic Oath and soak in a medical culture that dates back thousands of years.

This Medical Program is tailored for pre-med students like you. You’ll have ample opportunity to demonstrate the competency requirements set out by the AAMC. By engaging with top medical professionals in Greece, you’ll gain valuable skills that set you apart.

This program follows a set itinerary with a group of like-minded students. This offers a balance of clinical exposure and leisure time. Take this chance to network with other passionate medical students and forge lifelong bonds as you discover the wondrous sights of Athens.

“Each applicant needs to be as sure as possible that this is what they want to do with their life. That motivation can be demonstrated through academic achievement and also through exposure to clinical medicine and community service. MCAT scores do not guarantee that an applicant will be invited to interview. Just as important are extracurricular activities and life experiences.”

– Mickey Foxwell MD, University of Maryland School of Medicine

Map & Location
The birthplace of philosophy, science, and western civilisation, and home to the most archaeological museums in the world, Greece is a historian’s dream. It isn’t just history in abundance, though — there’s something for everyone.

Sail through stunning turquoise waters, explore ancient ruins and charming villages, and enjoy delicious cuisine on sun-kissed terraces. Greece is safe and popular with tourists, and you will experience the unique warmth of Greek hospitality, known as “philoxenia” (friends with strangers).

Athens

The historic capital of Greece, Athens, is the template for a city that embraces both past and future. Home to 660,000 people, Athens sprawls across the Attica basin, surrounded by mountains and the Aegean Sea, with a pleasant mediterranean climate.

The iconic Acropolis is permanently visible from all over the city, a testament to its ancient glory. Sights of its rich history are visible everywhere you go, from charming shopfronts, a variety of interesting museums, and enchanting temple ruins.

Food & Accommodation

Stay in a modern hostel in the heart of Athens with hot showers, Wi-Fi, and air conditioning. It’ll be clean, comfortable, and in a safe area of the city, with transport to and from your placement handled by our staff.

You’ll share a room with other participants, giving you the chance to rest, relax, and explore this incredible city together. Share your culture, discover a new one, and forge global friendships under the gaze of the Acropolis.

For food, you will be given an allowance to cover three meals a day. This gives you the freedom to explore local dining options and get a real taste of authentic Greek cuisine. Our staff can recommend some of their favourite places if you want a helping hand!
