Nursing Elective Placements Overseas with Projects Abroad
If you are looking into taking your Nursing Elective overseas, Projects Abroad offers a number of Elective placements for you to choose from. These placements are specifically for undergraduates studying for a degree in Nursing and are based in various destinations in the developing world.
If you are not an elective student or would rather take part in our standard Nursing projects, please see our Nursing Projects page. You can also see our full range of Electives for students of other healthcare-related subjects on our Medical Electives page.
Projects Abroad has over 20 years’ experience working with medical professionals. Our staff are on hand to work with you and your university before you arrive in your chosen destination. This will ensure you have a placement overseas that will provide a rich and rewarding experience of the country and medical facility.
Projects Abroad arranges your accommodation, meals and insurance and our in-country staff are well equipped to support you and make sure your time overseas is a success.
Taking your Elective Placement in Nursing with Projects Abroad
As a nursing student taking your elective abroad, you will experience big differences between the local medical practices and what you see in the West. For example, in many countries it is common for a patient’s family to take a more active role in their care.
Placements can suffer from a lack of staff or undertrained staff and medical facilities are often under-resourced due to lack of funding.
As a result of this, many placements will not have the up-to-date equipment you are used to. However, what you will see are highly dedicated and caring medical staff who do their very best in the limited working conditions they have.
Our in-country staff will work with you and your university to tailor make your placement. You could choose to rotate through departments or focus on one particular area of nursing. Some students also choose to work in a care-based setting, rather than in a hospital or clinic. Wherever you are placed, you will be assigned a qualified supervisor and work alongside local staff to learn about nursing your chosen destination.
Deadlines for Application
Please be aware that most universities have deadlines by which time your Elective application paperwork must be completed. If your university needs information on the hospital or clinic in which you will be placed, or requires forms to be signed by your project supervisor, we strongly advise completing our application form at least one month before this deadline. We can only provide this detailed information once you have applied and been accepted onto an Elective placement with us.
