International Development Volunteering Abroad
Our voluntary International Development projects are aimed at providing you with practical work experience to improve your CV. These projects are ideal for volunteers who would like to acquire an in-depth understanding of the problems many communities face.
The International Development placements give you the chance to discover a way of life in a different environment and you can choose to work in a country such as Mexico or Vietnam.
Each International Development programme is designed to cater for the individual volunteer and qualifications or previous work experience is directly relevant. As a volunteer, you will be able to support marginalised communities abroad to enhance and empower them. You will gain a well-rounded view of how international development charities or NGOs work and the unique set of challenges they face in achieving their goals.
While working on our International Development placements, volunteers receive support and guidance from our qualified in-country staff. As a volunteer you’ll meet other volunteers from all over the world and will form part of the Projects Abroad volunteer community.
‘My placement in Cape Town, South Africa was a transformational experience. I worked with Sunrise Educare Centre located in the heart of one of the oldest segregated communities formed during the apartheid era. It has become a multi-racial, multi-cultural community with many refugees from other African countries.’
