What you can expect

Become part of a rural Ghanaian community and help support collaborative community development projects.

Teaching 

Your days will be filled with both project work and cultural exploration, as you support the education of local children through informal teaching and some hands-on renovation work at a local school. Working alongside local educators and community leaders, you’ll learn valuable skills in teaching techniques, public speaking, and community engagement. You’ll also help improve access to important amenities for local people by installing water-saving taps.

Greening project 

Work outdoors to restore local biodiversity and strengthen ecosystems by planting native trees, building wildlife habitats, and supporting sustainable farming practices across the community. To make sure that your efforts last long after you leave, you’ll also engage with the local community to encourage environmental stewardship.

Cultural immersion and history

Experience the rich traditions, welcoming atmosphere, and iconic landmarks of West Africa. Live alongside local community members in the Akuapem Hills while participating in authentic cultural exchanges—from mastering West African rhythms and preparing traditional meals to practising Twi greetings and playing evening games of Oware. 

Complement your community immersion with an unforgettable weekend excursion down to the coast to visit Cape Coast Castle, reflect on Ghana’s history, and explore the tropical wilderness of Kakum National Park.

Skills and independence

This trip is designed to stretch your personal boundaries, helping you develop leadership, teamwork, and critical thinking skills. Whether you’re teaching a class of students, collaborating with fellow volunteers, or learning a few words in Twi, you’ll find yourself growing in confidence and independence. By the end of the trip, you’ll walk away with lifelong memories, new skills, and a deeper understanding of the world.
