My time overseas was truly an extraordinary, life-changing opportunity, all thanks to the incredible surgeons of Bệnh Viện Nhi (BVN) as well as the spectacular Projects Abroad staff.

Leanne A

I have just finished my second year of studying medicine at the University of Manchester, England. I have always been interested in paediatrics and I love to travel and experience different cultures, so volunteering with Projects Abroad seemed like the perfect opportunity.

Kathryn A

I had always wondered what my future profession would look like in practice within a developing country. I also desired to challenge myself to get out of my comfort zone and expand my worldview.

Madison B

It was such an incredible opportunity to learn about Vietnam’s health care system and seeing how my chosen profession is practiced in a developing country.

Colin R

The youth I worked with had been through tough times but they were the most enthusiastic and friendly students I had ever met.

Faye D

My second year of nursing school had just wrapped up and I was searching for something meaningful to do with my summer, something that would also give me some great experience.

Mychelle P

This internship has helped me prepare for graduate school and my future career as a Physiotherapist. Every day I leave work with both a sense of accomplishment and a desire to learn more the next day. The hands-on experience in this field is invaluable and being able to observe patients improving is as gratifying as it can get.

Olivia M

I focused mainly on coming up with innovative new ways of promoting the company. I set up and managed new social media channels and wrote and created various posters and videos in English to help their products reach a wider audience.

Robert P

"Seeing the students learn further knowledge, and to make improvements in lessons, was an incredibly rewarding experience for me, and I felt privileged to have made a difference in their lives."

Emily M

Once I built some trust with the speech therapy staff, I was able to give recommendations for the children and experiment with new therapy techniques. I was even asked to make an alternate AAC communication book for the children.

Kylee F

While the other volunteers returned home after their two weeks of volunteering, I had planned for one more week in Vietnam in which to explore on my own. Projects Abroad was very accommodating while working with me on this objective. (…). I remained in contact with them during my independent travel and never felt abandoned or alone.

Map & Location

Filled with natural beauty urban adventure, Vietnam is an incredible country bordering China, Laos, and Cambodia. Home to the world’s largest cave, the stunning Ha Long Bay, and remnants of the brutal Vietnam war, there’s so much to discover.

Vietnam’s tourism sector is growing rapidly and it is now one of the most popular Southeast Asian nations to visit. Floating markets, striking karst mountains, endless rice paddies, and imperial history are all on your doorstep — see it for yourself!

Hanoi

The capital city of Vietnam and second most populous, Hanoi, is located in the north of the country in the Red River Delta. Home to more than eight million people, Hanoi is a true blend of ancient tradition and modern influence. It has a subtropical climate with warm summers and mild winters.

The famous old quarter dominates social media feeds, but the city is filled with incredible landmarks, including stunning lakes, museums, temples, and more. You will never run out of things to see!
