Journalism Internships Abroad

Work on a newspaper, magazine, radio, or TV show on an overseas placement

Projects Abroad Journalism internships are a unique way of honing your journalism skills, building a portfolio and getting international work experience.

Our media internships abroad cover radio, print, digital, and TV journalism. You’ll be working with professional journalists, seeing their day-to-day work and getting to try your hand at new skills. You could be researching and writing stories, helping with the smooth running of the project, or working on distribution.

You’ll also get a better understanding of the cultural and political background of the country you’re interning in.

What will I gain from an international media internship?

A Journalism internship abroad gives you skills that prepare you for your next stage of education and career. You’ll also get a unique experience that you can talk about at interviews.

Here are just some of the benefits that our previous interns talk about:

  • Soft skills like teamwork, communication, leadership, resilience, organising, planning, and time management.
  • Hands-on journalism skills and a portfolio of work.
  • The ability to work and empathise with people of different cultures and backgrounds, helping to develop a ‘global mindset’.
  • Confidence from pushing past your comfort zone.

All of the above will enhance your CV, UCAS applications, and your personal development.

Be fully supported by staff

On these projects, you’ll work alongside professionals. This is a real opportunity to engage with real reporters and learn the tricks of the trade as they chase down stories and put together content. Your questions will be welcome and your contributions will be valued.

Projects that have an impact

All our projects are well researched, targeted and sustainable. We aim to make a difference to the local community for the long term.
