Occupational Therapy Elective Placements Overseas with Projects Abroad
Are you thinking about taking your Occupational Therapy Elective overseas? Projects Abroad offers a number of elective placements in developing countries. These placements are specifically designed for undergraduates studying for a degree in Occupational Therapy.
If you are not an elective student or would rather take part in our standard Occupational Therapy projects, please see our Occupational Therapy Projects page. You can also see our full range of Electives for students of other healthcare-related subjects on our Medical Electives page.
Projects Abroad has over 20 years practice in collaborating with medical professionals. Our staff have experience working with students and universities. We ensure that you have a placement overseas that provides a rich and rewarding experience of the country and their approach to Occupational Therapy.
Projects Abroad arranges your accommodation, meals and insurance and our in-country staff are well equipped to support you and make sure your time overseas is a success.
Taking your Elective Placement in Occupational Therapy with Projects Abroad
As an Occupational Therapy student, your elective placement could be within a hospital, a care centre or even in private homes. You may be involved with disabled children, or adults recovering from various surgeries and conditions.
You will have a dedicated supervisor and work alongside local staff. You will be able to ask questions and learn about how Occupational Therapy work in your chosen destination differs from your home country.
The countries in which we work have limited resources. As a result of this patients often struggle for access to treatment. You may witness many patients with extreme conditions that require a lot of work to rehabilitate. You will learn a lot from your time in your chosen placement and this will stand you in good stead for your future career.
Deadlines for Application
Please be aware that most universities have deadlines by which time your Elective application paperwork must be completed. If your university needs information on the hospital or clinic in which you will be placed, or requires forms to be signed by your project supervisor, we strongly advise completing our application form at least one month before this deadline. We can only provide this detailed information once you have applied and been accepted onto an Elective placement with us.
